Biggest Social Network Site Failures of All Time
Published on June 27th, 2012.
social networks are definitely popular as tens of millions of people belong to them. However, not every social network site is automatically popular as there have been quite a number of social network duds and failures.
Geocities is considered the first social network site and, sadly, it did not last long. The dull nature of Geocities eventually led to it closing up shop after only a few years.
The Globe was considered a social network that had such enormous potential it featured a $850 million IPO. Its value eventually dropped down to $4 million.
Google Plus is not a bad social network site but it has not exactly been promoted in the most effective manner. As a result, not very many people knew about the social network much less joined it.
Friendster truly did have a lot of promise but it seemed to fizzle out after a short period of time. Why was this? Friendster just seems to pale in comparison to other top social networking sites. Friendster really was not a bad site but it just didn’t bring anything new to the table which is why it faded away.
Myspace typifies the statement “How the mighty have fallen.” Myspace became so spam oriented many simply departed to FaceBook.
